Joining the Sand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce connects you with local businesses, offers networking opportunities, and provides resources to help your business thrive. It’s a way to support community growth, gain visibility, and be part of a collective voice that advocates for local business interests.
We are looking for suggestions for Grand Marshal for our Fourth of July Parade, possibly a veteran.
 • This organization was started in the 1930s by John and Arthur Merren.
• Per Dick Lodholtz the organization was called The Sand Lake Business Men’s
Association in 1947.
• The Chamber of Commerce owned a 1967 Plymouth Convertible
• As late as 2000 the Chamber of Commerce members were offered Priority Health
insurance through a Small Group Application
• Around 1974 / 75 the Chamber of Commerce did a lot of work to bring a doctor to Sand
Lake. Including equipment donated by Dr. Dykema and considering sponsorship of a
medical student in return for 7 years of practice in Sand Lake
• The Chamber of Commerce donated $2500 to the Sand Lake Rescue Squad in 1978.
• The Chamber of Commerce sponsored a annual Christmas party during the 1970s. An
evening affair with bands and such. $5 per couple.
• The Chamber of Commerce donated $50 to Sand Lake Elementary to use for their annual
yearbook.
• Chamber sponsored a Travelogue in 1972 at the High School.
• 1979 was the first year the 4th of July parade had a Grand Marshal.
• Dorothy Brooks (owned the Boon Burro Restaurant) was the first female member of the
Chamber of Commerce. Around 1969.
 • In the beginning, the objective of the Chamber of Commerce was to bring closer
relationship between business and farming.
